Save Max

My name is Bill and I am a firefighter with University CIty Fire Department.  My crew responded to a house fire assisting another agency.  Our assignment was search and rescue.  Initial search of the first floor turned up clear, so we headed to the basement.  Upon opening the basement door, one firefighter found a deceased puppy.  He removed her immediatly.  The rest of the crew advanced to the basement. Within minutes our rookie firefighter located a large dog, snatched him up and headed for the door.  This dogs name is Max.  Max was turned over to an EMS crew from Christian EMS.  The paramedic started administering high flow oxygen.  The EMS crew contacted EMS supervisor requesting to transport the dog immediatly.  Due to regulations, the request was denied.  The police department on scene jumped into action contacting the Humane Society requesting an emergency transport to Veterinary care.  They accepted.  Meanwhile, Max was covered with a blanket, placed on a backboard, and moved to the ambulance to keep warm. As you would expect,  there were many firefighters, police officers, and bistandards concerned with this furry soul. As Max laid there resting and parade of people kept peeking in the ambulance saying a kind word or giving a gentle pet to the head.
When I left work the next morning (01/21/16) I drove to the Humane Society to check on the condition of Max.  I already had offers to help pay medical expenses for Max's care.  So I posted to fb and people responded.
The staff at HS was awesome and stated Max did well overnight but around 0900 started crashing.  He was transported to an Emergency Vet Clinic to try and save his life.  Max has severe smoke inhalation.
Funds need to be generated asap, as the next 48 hrs determine life or death. Fire Departments as well as firefighters and others have already pledged almost $500.00.  Please help us finish getting to our goal.
The family has lost everything expect this family member.  Please help give and help Max get back home healthy and safe where he is loved.
