Hello, Ferris fans! This is David Blanchard, the creator/event organizer of FERRIS FEST, the 30th anniversary celebration in honor of the movie FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF. May 20-22 saw fans of this globally beloved film come together from all over the world to share their passion, ultimately coming together for the blowout live 'Twist and Shout' parade re-creation in downtown Chicago at Daley Plaza!
We were so very happy to bring this exciting weekend event to fruition with a finely calculated, expansive budget in hand to make it all happen on such a grand scale. However at the 11th hour, just three days before the celebration began, we were suddenly and unexpectedly informed of many additional costs in the thousands of dollars associated with making the parade happen in downtown Chicago.
With little choice at such a late date, and with the absolute desire and need to deliver on what we promised to all our attendees, we covered these costs and happily presented the live parade re-creation as scheduled. However, it put us deeply in the red financially by event's end. Additional fees mounted that we also never saw coming and way outside of our original budget, which put us in a position where covering our other obligations has become quite difficult.
This is why we are turning to you and asking for your help!
In order for us to not only take care of our pending bills, as well as to ensure that our planned return to Chicago next year for a follow up event happens, we're asking everyone to please donate to the SAVE FERRIS FEST cause! I hope you will please take a moment and give whatever you can to help allow us to continue to bring such an outstanding event to you, the fans!
To all who are able to donate, we will also be setting aside a special page on our website,www.ferrisfest.com, to post the names of those who graciously contribute.
