Save Edna, The Sad Pug

Donation protected
My name is Hannah, and I met Edna on January 26th. She had been living outside and had been repeatedly bred from. Her previous owner no longer wanted her. Although she is only four years old, she looked like a tiny old lady pug.  Edna, The Sad Pug, came home with me.

I knew as soon as I met her that she had problems, as she was struggling to breathe. I hoped that with a warm home and proper veterinary care, she could be much happier.

Edna started off with treatment for an ear infection and some tablets to try and ease her breathing, similar to those given to human asthma patients.  I was hoping to get her a surgery to open her airway. However, after an ECG and some X-Rays it seems that as well as having a collapsed trachea, Edna is also suffering from congestive heart failure. Her tiny heart has worked so hard that it is now much larger than it should be.

Today, I thought we would have to say goodbye to Edna but she keeps showing signs of improvement and although she is now on four different medications our vet says he still has hope. She will see him again on Friday February 6th when we have to decide if the medications she is on are helping her as much as she needs.

I believe that if you take on the responsibility of a pet, that you must be able to pay for them and I will continue to do so as long as it is in Edna's best interests, however after just one week, Edna's medical treatment costs are already in excess of 300€.  At this point any help that we can get is greatly appreciated. All donations will go to paying for Edna's medical care as long as we are sure we are taking positive steps to improve her quality of life. We are hoping that if the medication she is on can help her heart enough, we can begin to give her the other veterinary care she needs, like a good teeth clean.

In the event that we decide it would be kinder to let her go, any donations will be given to The Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles,  a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced and abused Pugs. They inspired me to try to help Edna in the first place.

Edna, The Sad Pug, says thank you.
