Save Bulgarian Strays

Donation protected

A friend (Peter) and I save strays, often in bad condition, in Bulgaria, where animal charities are few and far between, and mostly based in big cities, such as Plovdiv and Sofia. We operate mostly in and around Krichim, though, frankly, if we had the funding, we'd operate as far and wide as we could.

We try to get them medical attention, where they need it (which is, alas, often), and feed the rest. On very rare occasions, we get to find one a new home, but this is a huge challenge.

Here's one of the earliest ones we added to feeding roster, who I've always called "Baby" (on account of the little lovely being so small).

And we have, over the last year or so, come across so many more!

This one was pretty unhappy on our first meeting, hungry, some major skin issues and left alone on the streets:

In a pretty bad way, that the photo doesn't do justice to, this one (Weeble, because of always bouncing back) took a lot out of us, financially, and our nerves.

In order to fund what we do, we mostly have used any spare cash we have (which is never enough, of course) and me begging around friends on Twitter. But, of course, at some point, you have to make a choice to either do it properly, or not do it at all, so we have to get on a more sound financial footing.

Apparently it is really common for Brits (for I am a Brit living in Germany) to fall in love with strays in Bulgaria and adopt or end up feeding loads of them.

Which is all well and good, but if I can't manage it one month, or my Twitter begging doesn't work, then we have to leave them to go hungry again.

That won't do.

That's where you come in.

It would make such a big different to these little boys and girls lives if you could find it in your hearts to help us out.

It's heartbreaking when we can't help, and no one likes to think of one of these lovely creatures lying by the road starving to death (and I'm afraid that happens from time-to-time).

So why not help us save some dogs?

We'll use the money to feed, give medical attention and put more effort into rehoming the dogs. They are good loving animals who are just looking for a chance, like all of us in this world.

Thanks for reading my ramblings and if you could help us, it would be so much appreciated.

Thanks again for taking the time to have a look through.
