Hi, my name is Luna. I'm a sweet and loveable 10 year old calico. About 6 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Renal Failure which means my kidneys are shutting down and my body can't clean my blood or filter water properly. Sometimes, I am in pain but there's nothing my Human Mom can do about it right now. And that makes her cry.
I need to be on a special food that's really expensive that's got a special kind of protien that my body can easily absorb. This food also has low phosphorus which helps to slow the progression of the disease. I also need to be on special food because I'm considered a "senior citizen" in cat years.
I also need to be on special medication that's called a "phosphate binder" and it helps to alter the way my food is digested so it bypasses my kidneys making it easier on me.
And because my little body can't absorb water like it used to, I need a special Intravenous so water can be manually added to my bloodstream. Scary stuff!
When I was first diagnosed, the vets at Baxter Animal Hospital were very supportive and even gave some food and ran some tests for free. But now I need your help to live comfortably and pain-free.
The money donated will only be used for vet bills and the food and medicines I need. Sometimes I want to run and play with my brother and sister who live with me, but I'm just too tired and sore. I'm down to 2 pounds, which is skin and bones. Can you help me please?
My Human Mom can't afford the $350/month it would take to help me cope with this disease. She's tried selling her stuff trying to make a bit more money, but it's just not enough.
