The STONE Maiden is a small, family-owned business founded in North Little Rock, AR, and has been spreading joy and the love of nature to thousands of locals and those traveling through Central Arkansas for the last 10 years. Owned by Toni Wages and ran by her and her two daughters, Shawna Bowden and Amber Vance, TSM has grown to become one of NLR’s most treasured local businesses.
On the first week of June 2019, a flood from the Arkansas River hit Central Arkansas. Many people are now calling this event “The 500 Year Flood”. The Arkansas River crested at almost 30 feet, blowing past several flood records of the past century. Hundreds of homes, businesses, and other buildings and roadways in Central Arkansas were impacted by this flood, The STONE Maiden included. The little green building so fondly spoken of by so many was almost completely submerged by river water, and all anyone could do was wait and pray that the damage would be minimal. Sadly, almost 5 feet of water entered the building, and stayed there for almost a week before receding. The results of this flood are devastating to everyone involved, and even more so for these ladies who have had to watch their pride and joy, their life’s work, and their passion for helping others be drowned by a natural disaster.
