                                               And
Keep The Blues Alive In Clarksdale !!!

For those who don’t know what a Mississippi saxophone is, it is the term used in Mississippi and Chicago for a harmonica, in particular a blues harp -a poor man's saxophone.

The Mississippi Sax Fest is the only Music Festival in the World totally dedicated the preservation and presentation of Blues Harmonica in the Blues Harmonica tradition.

There is no better place in the world to have this festival than Clarksdale Mississippi, considered by many as the birthplace of the Delta blues.  Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Robert Nighthawk, Son House, Pinetop Perkins, Jimmy Rogers, Ike Turner Charlie Parton, Howling Wolf, Houston Stackhouse, Sonny Boy Williamson, Robert, Jr Lockwood and even the White Jimmy Rodgers, all lived and /or played in Clarksdale Mississippi.

This is also the site of the notorious CROSSROADS, where legend has it that Robert Johnson made a deal with the Devil. His sold his Soul for Mastery of the blues guitar.

Although many businesses in town have contributed sponsorship money, it is not enough to present this annual festival in 2017. We are very grateful for whatever sponsors we can get.  The Mississippi Tourism Agency has kindly been a supporter for the last three years.  Our main sponsor in 2016 was a benevolent blues fan from Georgia, who underwrote the major portion of the festival. He did it for the pure love of the blues and the blues harmonica.  Unfortunately, he is unable to participate for the 2017 fest.

Last year Lazy Lester was the headliner along with Snooky Pryor’s son, Rip Lee Pryor, Brandon Santini and RJ Mischo.  The fesival awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards to Lazy Lester and James Cotton.

This year the lineup is Kim Wilson, Billy Boy Arnold, Paul Oscher (Muddy Waters band member),Terry Harmonica Bean and others.

The All Star Backup Band consists of Billy Flynn on guitar, Kenny "Beedy Eyes "Smith (Son of Willie "Big Eyed " Smith) on drums, Bob Stroger on bass, little Frank Krakowski second guitar and Clay Swafford on piano.

David Berntson, advocate of Blues in the Schools, will be handing out 100 harmonicas (courtesy of Hohner) to kids and teaching a youth harmonica class the morning of the festival.
There will also be a Blues Harmonica Workshop on Friday.

We need to ask all you blues harmonica fans and players to pitch in and help us keep this new festival tradition growing in the right direction.  It is only a month out.  We need to raise fifteen thousand dollars ASAP to support the festival, which is set for Saturday, May 27th.  We have already sold advance tickets but need to sell more.  What we need most is donations and your unconditional support of the blues and the blues harmonica. Every little bit helps.

Show your love and passion for the blues. Support this festival and keep the blues alive.

Any donation of $30.00 or more will get free access to the festival. (Donations of $20 or more from the first week of this campaign also will be eligible for this reward.)
Donations over $50 will recieve a 5x7 post card with the poster of the festival on it and a 5x7 white index card with all the artists signatures perfect for mounting side by side.
Donations over $100 will be rewarded by VIP seating, festival t shirt, festival poster signed by the artists and invitation to the Meet and Greet cocktail hour at Deak's Mississippi Saxophones and Blues Emporium.
Donations of $500 dollars will receive 6 vip tickets with all the perks.
If somebody donates $5,000  the stage will named after that person for this year.
If you cant make the show this year you will be on the guest list for next year with same perks.

They call me Mr.Downchild. I started playing the Blues Harmonica in 1965 in London England. I have recorded and played with Blues Legends Robert Lockwood Jr,Pinetop Perkins Sam Lay,Hubert Sumlin,Sam Carr and more. The Mississippi Saxophone Festival is the only event of it's kind on the planet. Where the Blues Harmonica is celebrated in the land it originated ,the mighty mississippi delta. To support this festival you not only support the Blues as music but as a part of American history and culture The great Muddy waters sang 'The Blues had a baby, and they named it Rock an Roll' These Blues has changed the face of music not only in USA but around the world. I am proof of it. Support the Mississippi Saxophone Festival TODAY.
