Save the Iron Giant Loft
The Iron Giant Loft has been a community hub for LGBTQIA, sacred sexuality, and consent-focused community meet-ups, classes, and play spaces for the past several years. It's one of the few community spaces currently accessible to wheelchair and scooter users. It has also been my home.
Unfortunately, we're currently facing the possibility of losing the Iron Giant at the beginning of next month. We're working with the Eviction Defense Center and the settlement hearing is set for May 3.
The EDC has made it clear to us that having additional funds available on the spot makes it much more likely that the property owners will settle—meaning we keep our home and the Iron Giant Loft venue stays open. I've been hustling hard, and it's helped a lot, but there are only 2.5 weeks left with quite a ways to go. Every dime of this fundraiser will go to saving the loft and ensuring it stays open for a long time.
This is home, and it's been home to community folks seeking emergency crash space as well as to many amazing events over the years. It's scary to ask for help, but with sex-positive and LGBTQIA+ community venues closing left and right in the last few years, and with very few accessible community spaces left, I can't stand the thought of losing one more.
Anything you can contribute to keeping this space open is deeply appreciated. It's your support that has made this not just a space but a second home for so many.
