Would you consider digging deep (pun intended) to help return the pond to health?
The Country Brook pond and greenbelt at Park Grove and Voss is enjoyed by walkers, joggers, families, fisherman, dog walkers, duck feeders, and many other people who live in the surrounding areas and frequent its inviting natural environment. It is a unique and beloved treasure for the Country Brook homeowners as well as visitors from nearby neighborhoods.
Unfortunately, the pond is very sick. As you've likely noticed, years of accumulated silt (the pond was last dredged in 1991) have made the pond shallower and now intense algae growth starts early and lasts for much of the summer. The Country Brook HOA recently approved and is undertaking a year-long project to correct the problem. A special desilting process will be used which will not harm any of the pond life and be as minimally disruptive as possible.
Each Country Brook homeowner will contribute over $1,000 to cover the almost $250,000 needed for this work to restore the pond's depth and health. This is in addition to the annual maintenance costs paid by the Country Brook HOA to maintain the pond and greenbelt for the City of Dallas. Even with the generous contribution from each Country Brook resident, the amount is still about $50,000 short of covering all costs of the project. While we will undertake other fund raising activities, Country Brook recognizes that our neighboring homeowners also enjoy the pond and will likely want to contribute to this cause. If our neighbors in the surrounding communities would contribute $50 each, we can reach our goal and restore the pond to full health.
