Save the Chicken

Chester has been perched up on top of the Mark Hershey Farms office building for nearly 50 years. His presence has brought smiles and laugher throughout the community of Lebanon County and all those who pass by.  As Mark Hershey Farms expands and grows into its new office location word has gotten out that the sole owner Daryl Alger is threatening to get rid of Chester! He is determined to have his mill represented by an animal figure of more strength. Once word got out to the Lebanon Community that their beloved Chester would soon be gone, a small group of devoted Chester fans began a group called Save the Chicken. Signs were painted, flyers printed, even hats and t-shirts were made. One rebel even came onto Mark Hershey Farms property and sent a wooden replica of Chester out into the pond to bring awareness to all those who visited the Mill. After countless hours of volunteer work Daryl has finally taken into consideration our concern and has presented a proposition. Daryl will keep Chester if we are able to raise $10,000.00 for the Lebanon County Special Olympics.  All donations will be given on March 11, 2017 at the annual fundraising banquet. So please help us make Chester great again...You may also write a check out to Lebanon County Special Olympics and drop it off at Mark Hershey Farms.
