Save the Cayman!

For over 10 years this 2006 Porsche Cayman S served as a test platform for a large number of aftermarket products produced for the Porsche Cayman and Boxster by companies such as Bilstein, Capristo, Champion, Fabspeed and others.  The car also served as the initial "spokescar" for the Porsche Club of America Cayman Register, and for over a decade both the CaymanClub.Net and Planet-9.com websites.

The car and its online followers also inspired multiple race teams to take up the gauntlet of racing the Cayman and ultimately led Porsche to agree to develop and sell the Cayman GT4.  The car has participated in a number of track events across the country, attended multiple Porsche Parades, and has even been driven by Porsche race car drivers such as Wolf Henzler.   As such, this car is an important part of Porsche and in particular Porsche Cayman history.

Sadly during the first week of April 2017 the car was violently hit by motorcyclist Yammie Noob while driving on a suspended license and filming footage for his motorcycle stunt YouTube channel.   We recently ran a GoFundMe campaign to help the driver of the car with out of pocket expenses not covered by insurance.  That campaign was a success and Peter is on the mend, but the car remains in a "totaled" state.

If I can raise $4800 I can buy back the car from Geico and attempt to make repairs and get the car back on the road and continue its legacy.   I believe this car is too important to end up in a scrap heap or melted down and turned into a fidget spinner!   I learned from the last GoFundMe that helped Peter that people will read these campaigns and have questions about their validity or make snide comments based purely on conjecture.  If you have a question please email me at webmaster@planet-9.com and I am more than happy to answer anything that I can in advance.

The followiong photos were taken at the scene of the accident.   I know it looks bad, but I've been in contact with some Porsche experts who tell me it can be rebuilt, but the first order of business is to rescue the car from the scrap heap.   Please help if you are so inclined!
