Save Surf Popoyo Lessons/Guasacate

Tropical Storm Nate has left a devastating impact on Nicaragua, local communities and businesses. Heavy rains, flooding and big waves have left families without homes, businesses, food or water.

My name is Morrie and I'm a Kiwi that has been living on Playa Guasacate, Nicaragua for five years. If you have ever traveled to Playa Guasacate you'll know how beautiful this beach and community are. We desperately need your help to get the basic essentials back into the community and to it's people so that we can get this great beach back into working order. My employees are out of work until I can start teaching again, effecting their whole families. The entire local economy has been effected and every dollar that comes in will provide food for tables in the greater community.

We are asking for your help to rebuild Guasacate Beach community and Surf Popoyo Lessons.

We been focusing on supporting the community the best way we can. We've spent yesterday handing out rice, coconuts and frijoles within the beach community, where there still seems to have no help provided. There are a lot of the locals that still have no power, food, water or medicine.
The community continues to request the following..
Food
Water
Clothing
Medication
❤️ love

We would love to continue to help them survive. We are asking for help to rebuild our community and businesses including Surf Popoyo Lessons.

Surf Popoyo Lessons and Casa Rosada (my house) are not operational as the front 20 meters of the property are no longer there. This piece of land provided protection from the ocean for my house. Currently the waves are entering my house at every high tide. This makes it impossible to live in the house.

In order to return to the house and open Surf Popoyo Lessons again we need to build a sea wall to protect the house from the ocean. The sooner that this is done the sooner we can return to our house and get back to normality.

The rancho that I taught lessons in was also swept into the ocean and needs to be rebuilt.

Water damage in the house has caused quite a bit of destruction to appliances, tools, surfboards and other household items that will need to be repaired or replaced.

The money that you kindly give to this campain will be collected by my partner and beneficiary Jennifer (American citizen living with me) and  spent here in Guasacate in two ways. On helping to provide food, clothing and clean water to the forgotten security guards of Guasacate. The remainder will be spent firstly on construction of a sea wall to protect the house. Then what remains will be spent on the construction of a new rancho for classes as the old one got washed into the ocean. All of this providing needed jobs to the local community. I also need to replace a number of house hold items that were lost to Nate.

Any help that can be given will be hugely appreciated. Even if you don't have much to give. No amount is too small. ($5, $10, $20, $50...etc) Every little bit will add up and make a difference.
Thank you so much in advance
Love,
Surf Popoyo Lessons
