Pierre was attacked by a German Shepard last night.  He is fighting for his life*

As many of you have already heard, @PierreDaPom was attacked by a dog last night and is currently fighting for his life at a medical clinic in Honolulu.

His projected vet bills to keep him alive-- in less than 24 hours-- have already mounted to $7,000.   We have already paid $5,000 to get him to where he is at this moment right now.

We are asking all friends, family and community members to help Pierre continue the fight of his life.

Every single dollar is appreciated and all forms of support are accepted; for those unable to contribute monetarily, we thank you for your prayers and manifestations for a good prognosis.

Pierre's current outlook is unclear.

While he has some head movements, the rest of his body is immobile.  His legs no longer work: he cannot walk or sit or go to the bathroom.  His legs have been shaven for the IV and pain medicine.  He appears to be cognitively responding  to his trained "trigger" words (food for dogs, cookies, outside, cheese) but there are unclear neurological + spinal + brain injuries that need to be identified before anyone knows his true path.

Your support can save Pierre's life.

Pierre needs all the goodness he can get right now.  Think of this as our way of giving back to Pierre... the little 5 year old pomeranian who has given us so much from the very day he was adopted.  Much Aloha.

{The nitty gritty details}:

Last night, while attending a holiday dinner party Pierre was attacked by the host's German Shepard:  Pierre was sitting on a friend's lap getting his belly rubbed when all of a sudden someone clapped in excitement (because, hey, it's a party!).  Pierre got excited too and let out a "Woof!"  The next thing we saw was the giant dog run toward Pierre from across the yard, clamp down onto Pierre's head and neck with his giant mouth, give a few hard shakes and pin him to the grass.

Margaux (his Mom) was three steps away... pushed the the big dog off and picked up Pierre.  He was in shock and limp, with his eyes rolling back in his head, and his tongue hanging all the way out.  His tongue started to turn dark purple in less than a minute (lack of oxygen to the brain), he had no control of his body, and his eyes were unblinking.  Margaux walked to the other side of the yard with unresponsive Pierre and tried to calm him out of his shock.  After a few minutes, however, Pierre's faint heartbeat stopped and she panicked.  The other guests saw this panic and ran across the lawn to assist (it just went from the Mom comforting her dog to a village realizing she couldnt do this on her own).  At that moment, Margaux began animal CPR to the best of her ability. His heart was miraculously restarted and he was rushed to the ER at Feather and Fur in Kailua.  This was all before 9pm last night.

He is still not ok.  He spent the evening in the hospital in Kailua where he received very good care and was put on cardiac arrest watch.  His xrays revealed a skull fracture from the assault and now needs a CT scan to diagnose his prognosis and our plan of recovery.  We took him to the hospital in Honolulu where they are holding him until Monday, even though his prognosis could change at any moment.  The anestheic needed to keep him still during the CT has the potential to be very harmful to him since he is 1) so small and 2) been recently traumatized.

An inital drop less than two feet down, and no more than 12 hours ago but Pierre is already $5,000 into his medical bills.  Currently we are using a line of credit aquired at one vet last night, plus another credit card borrowed from a family member.  All money will go towards paying off this growing hospital bill.  While the actual end number is unknown at this time, if there are any additional funds left over, we will be donating them to Feather and Fur in Kailua to help a future animal in need.  Pierre was not alone in that room last night... he was surrounded by a great staff of six caring and attentive people.  We truly thank and appreciate all they have done for not just Pierre, but all animals that have been helped by this great team in Kailua.
