Save Mark Nubar's Eye

Dear friends of Mark Nubar,
You might have heard that in March 2019, Mark's right eye began to experience a Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD), a condition where the vitreous gel that fills the eye separates from the retina and, in Mark's case, tearing it. In June, pneumatic retinopexy surgery was performed to repair his first retinal detachment. His retina healed to 20/30 vision at end of July and all seemed to be fine, until his retina and macula (the central part of his retina) completely detached, resulting in a very difficult repair situation - and total blindness in his right eye.
The next step is vitrectomy and scleral buckle surgery, happening on Tuesday August 20. Mark is told he has a 70% chance of success, and hopefully, he will regain usable visual acuity as well.
It has been a difficult road, physically and emotionally for Mark and his partner Jason. Unfortunately, insurance is not covering the surgery, so Mark and Jason are having to pay out of pocket. In addition, Mark has not been able to work or do his DJ gigs which has also contributed to an already challenging situation.
Mark's pending surgery is going to be well over $10,000. With the previous medical bills and Mark's loss of income, it is a stressful time, as you can imagine.
We are reaching out to Mark's incredible community of family, friends, business associates, sexy Bears, Bootie and Faultline patrons and the LGBTQ community to ask for your help in saving our beloved Nubar's eye.
