Save Lady Yuna

Donation protected
I don't like asking for help. Really, I don't. But when my fur baby is sick and the only thing keeping her from getting better is a lack of funds, I have to ask.

2016 & 2017 have been rough. Between significant health issues, the loss of Bri's job (mass layoff), and unemployment, money has been tight.

About Yuna

A bright spot amidst the turmoil of uncertainty has been our sweet little fluff cat Yuna (and her sister Clementine). For those of you who don't know Yuna, she is a precious, tiny, soft-spoken fluff with a sweet chirpy voice, poised demeanor, and absolutely devoted to the people she loves (not unlike her namesake: Lady Yuna from the Final Fantasy X game). She is tough and concise, though you might not realize it given how soft and sweet she is. But, also like Lady Yuna, she hides her pain, and it's tough to know when she's feeling lousy until the symptoms get really severe.

What happened

Yesterday morning she rejected her breakfast and started throwing up stomach fluid – an indication that her stomach is empty. The behavior persisted throughout the day with more empty stomach throw up, little to no litter box use, refusal to eat or drink anything, and increasingly irritable behavior. By nightfall she was obviously uncomfortable and this morning a bit lethargic.

Bri monitored her throughout the night and took her to the emergency vet first thing this morning. They found that she was significantly dehydrated – beyond what 24 hours of throwing up and refusing to drink water would cause, which means that it's likely caused by a more chronic condition that's been going on for some time without us realizing it.

The Good News

She is receiving treatment for her symptoms (dehydration, vomiting, pain) at one of LA's most trusted and affordable animal hospitals and will be kept overnight to ensure that she can re-hydrate enough to begin to heal and restore her appetite. If she's still dehydrated in the morning, we may keep her there for the rest of the weekend to ensure that she's back to 100% symptom-wise before bringing her home.

Based on her symptoms, the vet is fairly certain that she has a thyroid issue – which is treatable!

The Bad News

Treatment of her symptoms, lab tests, and overnight stays add up fast. We will do whatever we can to ensure that our darling girl is cared for and that we can bring her home and begin treating her for the root cause. If the blood work comes up negative for a thyroid issue, we may not be able to afford the additional blood tests needed to identify the problem.

So, we're asking you for help

If you're willing, it would mean the world to us if you decide to help us out by pitching in. Money continues to be tight until Bri is able to get a new full-time job.

Any dollar amount is appreciated! Whether it's $5 or $50!

And if you want to help but can't afford to donate anything yourself, sharing this Go Fund Me with others would potentially help a lot.

If 60 people donate $10 each, then we are covered.

If we end up raising even more than the $600 goal, we will put the extra money towards ongoing medication that she will need, and possibly even get her sister Clementine to the vet for a check up too (it's been a few years).

As a thank you~

If Yuna recovers (and as long as they can identify the issue, she should), we will give you a hand drawn (by Bri) thank you card featuring Yuna & Clementine! It will be extremely cute. You won't even know what to do with yourself.

We will, of course, need your address in order to send you a thank you card, but if you know us personally then sending us your address information should be a piece of cake.

If for some reason she doesn't pull through... please understand that we may not feel up to drawing our sweet fluff, in which case a simple thank you via this Go Fund Me site may have to suffice.

But, she should pull through!

Thank you for taking the time to read through this Go Fund Me story

Regardless of whether you choose to donate or not, we wish you the best things and hope that 2018 proves to be one of personal victory and success in your life!

Bless,

~Ben & Bri (and Yuna & Clementine)
