Save Jax's heart

As many of you know I found Jax on a Havanese rescue site. He had a heart murmur and no one wanted to take him. I battled about this for several days I even called two local vets to inquire about heart murmurs. I was told that most times, in puppies, murmurs will be outgrown. Even if they had a murmur they could live a long, happy life. So I decided to take a chance on Jax and just hoped that he would grow out of it. Once I had him, I scheduled a vet appointment right away. At this appointment, I was told that he has a strong grade 4 murmur, but we would just keep an eye on it. At his 2nd visit, I was told that it was now close to a grade 5 and he would definitely not grow out of it. At this point I began to worry. In order to be able to get Jax fixed, he had to have and EKG and an ECG to make sure that his heart was strong enough for anesthesia. This is when we found out that Jax in fact, did not have a heart murmur, he has something called PDA. In PDA, abnormal blood flow occurs between two of the major arteries connected to the heart. Before birth, the two major arteries—the aorta and the pulmonary (PULL-mun-ary) artery—are connected by a blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus. This vessel is an essential part of fetal blood circulation. It is basically a hole in the aorta artery that never closed before birth. The only thing that will fix this, is heart surgery. There is over a 50% chance that if he doesnt get this surgery, he will die before the age of 1. This surgery will cost anywhere between $3500 and $5000. I will be taking Jax to Metropolitan vet hospital and his Dr is Hitchcock, a cardiologist. I was so upset to find this out, number one, because I don't want to lose Jax and number two, I do not have the funds to be able to afford a $5000 surgery. I would have never thought to create a "go fund me" but I had several people suggest this. Especially my animal loving friends. Jax is 7 months old and is the happiest, sweetest boy in the world. I want him to live a long happy and productive life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can do!!!!
