Ebenezer Food Pantry is a Second Harvest Emergency food pantry servicing the Hellertown, Lower Saucon, and Bethlehem Community Areas. We are a non-profit all volunteer operated organization, open to anyone in need in the local communities every Tuesday and open for emergency cases 24/7. Feeding on Average 270+ families each year we are essential to many individuals in the community.
Our food pantry receives about 99 percent of our food from Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley
and Northeast Pennsylvania. Previously the cost of the food to the receiving organization such as ours has been paid for by grants. These grants still exist, unfortunately due to the rising costs of operation Second Harvest has been forced to impose fees on the food coming to us and all other organizations. This is not uncommon in other areas unfortunately it is new to us and we do not have the funding to continue operating.
The fees are small but what this means to us is that we will have to come up with $14,000+ to operate yearly at this time to continue normal operations . This amount will insure our continued support of the hungry in our community .
All we ask is for a donation of what ever you can afford to spare. As we as volunteers are continuously reminded. Sometimes people are shy or afraid to let others know there income or living situation when they are not doing well for what ever reason be it a lost job, illness, violence or lost home so just keep in mind that the person who is hungry and needs the food may be a friend or family member or even a neighbor. You might not know who or when but surely you can help them and make a difference in your community.
