City Wide Artists is a crucial platform for artistic and social diversity and uncensored expression. We’ve only just begun, and to keep going we need your help. During challenging times like these we are even more committed to being a strong and resilient platform.

CWA was born in March of 2015 with the goal of bringing fresh, daring art to the Twin Cities. In just 22 months we hosted over 20 free community events and major contemporary art exhibitions. We have been proud to feature diverse voices from across 7 countries comprising of over 65 artists. We commit ourselves to diversity and our city by exhibiting artists from around the world next to our neighbors.

CWA is an experiment in redefining an urban creative space. Our interests are focused on presenting conscious material from individuals at different stages of their creative and professional journey. We support work that is contemporary, controversial, and deeply rooted in the ongoing experiences of our selected artists. Looking out across several mediums, the focus will be on emerging inner city talent, and innovators of color from within our local communities.

City Wide Artists is a community engagement platform.
Our sales commission is just 30% because we’re in the business of growing artists and our community. For our most recent exhibition, ITCH, a percentage of proceeds from sold artworks goes to Kill Kancer and MN Aids Project. Charitable giving is our tradition, and we intend to continue teaming with local and national nonprofits because our aesthetic choices at CWA cannot be unwound from our ethical impact as a space in the community.

Since it's inception, CWA has been funded purely out of the pocket of our founder. After nearly two years our coffers have run low—and with the city of Mpls enforcing the payment of several operational licenses, we hit a brick wall. Needless to say, this winter has been challenging. After a successful GoFundMe campaign, CWA will continue our commitment to support the commercial growth of artists as either a certified b corp or 501c3. Your support now will help get us through this transition. We look forward to continuing our special contribution to the arts in Minnesota.
