Save a Sato Veterinary Fund!

Donation protected
Three years ago my family went on our first "vacation" to Puerto Rico.  We envisioned sandy beaches and sunshine and relaxation.  What we didn't envision, and never expected was the number of homeless, ill and emaciated cats and dogs walking every street.  As an animal lover, it was impossible to ignore. We went home saddened and wondering how to help.
The next year we returned.  While driving through the rain forest we came on a painfully thin, mange ridden pit bull lying in the center of the road.  When I slowed the car down, she ran to us with hope in her eyes and a wagging tail.  I made many frantic calls and sent numerous emails to any rescue I could find in Puerto Rico.  There are not many, and those that are there are overwhelmed and underfunded.  I received a call from Sidnea of "Save a Sato" who promised to help by getting me a local vet to take "Flora" to, where she remained for 6 weeks before becoming healthy enough to travel to the U.S.  Save a Sato, again helped by transporting Flora to the airport for her flight to my home in the U.S.
I was hooked...
Since that time, my kennel The Olde Dogge Inn, has become a proud partner shelter for Save a Sato.  By providing free foster care for these "satos" we have been able to help many find their forever homes...far from the streets of Puerto Rico.
There still remains the problem of underfunding for this hard working and humble rescue organization. The veterinary bills are never ending.  At any point there are over 100 animals in the care of "Save a Sato". Donations are few, and and it is a constant struggle.
In October 2016, I will travel with 8 friends to Puerto Rico for the sole purpose of volunteering at the Save a Sato Shelter.  It is our hope that we can arrive with enough funding to pay down the veterinary bills, do some much needed kennel repairs, and still have money to put into an account for future veterinary bills.
Every dollar counts...no amount is too small.  Please consider helping this very worthy cause.  Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
