Santa Fe High School Shooting
Donation protected
Another senseless act of gun violence has paralyzed the nation today. With 10 people reported dead at Santa Fe High School in Texas, it's hard not to feel powerless, but we can come together to help a community on its knees.
The beneficiary of this campaign is the National Compassion Fund, a 501(c)(3) that partners with communities affected by mass shootings, among other tragedies. The NCF has worked closely with victims of Pulse Nightclub, Fort Hood, Chattanooga, Charlottesville, Las Vegas, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. 100% of the funds raised in this campaign will go to victims, and cover death benefits, injuries and psychological trauma.
I understand that the ultimate solution here is not a GoFundMe campaign. No amount of money will compensate for these atrocious acts that plague our country. While thoughts and prayers may be well intended, we need those in power to act. If they won't, we need to elect those who will. Now is the time for a discussion. Now is the time for action.
In the meantime, we can still offer just a little bit of relief. This campaign is one way to pitch in, to spare what you can for a community that needs it now more than ever. These shootings will NOT define us, but our response to them should.
