San Juan Summer Arts Festival 2018

The planning for the third annual 2018 San Juan Summer Arts Festival is well under way, and we are feeling excited and invigorated with the development and growth this year. Firstly, we now have a team of 18 who are taking on various roles to support this growing production and working together we expect a spectacular and successful event!
The 2018 Festival will take place the five Fridays in August at Brickworks in Downtown Friday Harbor from 4-10 PM. The festivities feature a variety of music, arts, food, and libations representing the various creative talents of San Juan County and beyond.
OUR MISSION:
"The San Juan Summer Arts Festival, under the umbrella of the 501(c)3 non-profit organization the San Juan County Arts Council, fosters the creativity of artists and facilitates deeper community intimacy through a multi-generational San Juan County volunteer-based celebration".
In 2017 we were averaging 300 visitors/hour coming through the gates of this community event, and I would guess that nearly 70% were locals. It was truly phenomenal to see the local community show up like they did; all ages and varying backgrounds. It became the summertime place for folks to come together, mingle, and enjoy the creativity that makes San Juan County so special. It enabled the many makers in this community to have an opportunity to showcase their products and generate income. It brought together the local flavor with the mass influx of tourists in a peaceful and harmonious way. It is the one and ONLY festival of the arts on San Juan Island in the summertime and therefore is so vital for providing opportunity and activity to our bustling town.
Most of our budget will be raised through corporate and individual sponsorship along with vendor fees and small grants. But, as this event is free to the public, this year we are asking YOU to make small (or big) donations if you are able. Our volunteers alone have already donated a value over $5,000 in kind through their time and efforts to make this event happen and enjoyable for everyone. Last but not least, we have been notified that a very generous private donor will be MATCHING any money we raise up to 5K! This is huge and we are so grateful!
We have much work to do but are hopeful we will receive the necessary funds and support from business and individuals like yourself who can see the value in supporting the arts and community in San Juan County. All donations are tax-deductible as all monies are managed through the San Juan County Arts Council, a 501(c)3. We would be happy to share with you a more detailed budget and any additional details you might like to know about the festival itself at any time.
