Post Surgery Update:
I had my first surgery (prophylactic double mastectomy) on November 19th 2018. The surgery went well, I had an amazing team of doctors and they removed all of my breast tissue and skin. I have a scar that runs all the way across my chest and it goes under both of my arms. This surgery has brought my risk of getting breast cancer from a 90% chance all the way down to 1%! I still have a few more weeks off of work as I recover but recovery is going well. There are ups and downs but I'm feeling better every day as I gain back my strength and range of motion. I have a follow up appointment this month where we will talk about next steps for prevention of ovarian cancer. I want to thank everyone for all of the amazing support and I will keep you all updated as my journey continues!
