Sam’s Procedure Is urgent

Donation protected
Sam Jaspers, 23yo, social work grad student, (the brunette on the left,) is scheduled for urgent biopsy and excision of a breast mass tomorrow. The outpatient hospital procedure requires her to pay her portion in advance but the surgeon tells her the procedure can’t be delayed. Sam developed itching and pain in November 2017, after missed diagnosis and superficial treatments, she was finally referred to a breast specialist. Without excision, the mass, florid papillomatosis will continue to grow and invade her breast tissue. With excision tomorrow, she will still lose a small portion of her breast. She is a dedicated future social worker, doing her internship and likely starting her career in child protective services. She is driving 40 minutes to her internship in a car that doesn’t go over 25miles an hour. The car broke down as the girls were evacuating hurricane Florence. They are back at their jobs and school but the car has to wait. I am witness to all this by consequence. I am visiting to deliver my grandmother’s pet cat, Winnie to my niece, Sam’s partner Baylee. The girls are darling, upbeat, proud, hard-working and I haven’t heard one complaint. They keep smiling and saying, “We will figure it out.” I’m hoping this community will help them figure it out. Thank you for taking the time to read her story. This is a tiny chapter in her wonderful life.
