Happy Days For Sam
Sadly we received the news today that our 3 year old Sam, has not got a good prognosis because of a high grade brain tumour. Sam has a grade 3 Anaplastic astrocytoma, which is inoperable :( he will start radiotherapy in the next few weeks in Sheffield, this will hopefully hold back the tumour for as long as possible but proton therapy has been refused because they (NHS) have decided Sam will not live long enough to see the long term effects of radiotherapy.
Sam right now is happy and in his own mind healthy, he is strong every day and we as a family would like the opportunity to spend remaining time letting Sam experience the life we all want for our children, and to create happy memories for his 2 brothers and his sister.
I (his farther) have left work to treasure these days to the fullest as every parent would, Sam calls these our hug days, but now we need to turn them into family days and make them happy :)
Sam loves experiencing new things as every child does, so we are so thankful for any help we receive that makes this become a reality x
We have set the fund at a minimal amount as we feel there is no price for memories and happiness only hope that we can as a crowd, make these days and hopefully years, define our lifes and help us appreciate each and every day x
We saw the most amazing sights, waterfalls and mountains. All the kids had a fantastic time driving a speed boat and fishing in the Loch, kindly arranged by the lovely locals, Lorn & June, who welcomed our family to Dunoon with open arms! Happy Memories that last a lifetime x
Sadly we also received the bad news that Sam's tumour that was mostly removed was not actually killed off by the radiotherapy and that any lingering cancer cells would start to regrow once again. They chose to wait till after Christmas to tell us this, understandably we are devastated to hear this news, that radiotherapy didn't actually do any good and that the change that made Sam's tumour operable was that the whole tumour had become aggressive and was starving the internal mass but thriving on the outer :(
Hi, my name is Dan Holland from the Artie White Foundation. We are a local charity that help good causes such as yours. We saw your story in the Grimsby Telegraph and discussed it last nights committee meeting. As a committee we decided that we would like to help and wish to discuss how we can help with his family. If someone could contact me on 07833 451155 we can discuss this further. Best wishes from all at the Artie White Foundation.
