JP's Second Round vs. Leukemia

After years of being in remission, JP’s leukemia has made a return; an extremely rare occurrence in the medical field. Janpierre was first diagnosed with cancer when he was only 9 years old. He survived, despite the odds, after a long and difficult battle. Now, 10 years later, the cancer has unfortunately come back. JP just turned 22 and received this news right before his birthday. He is a senior at UIC, majoring in business administration. JP was a semester away from completing his degree but needed to put his education on pause due to chemo therapy. JP’s only medical insurance was provided through UIC Campus Care. Since he will no longer be able to attend school, his insurance will expire as well. JP is known by many people and has touched many hearts. He always brings a smile to everyone’s face, whether it be his long time friends or people he just met. When Janpierre is not at school, his favorite pass time is spending time with his family. Family means the world to him. An activity they enjoy together is soccer, where they all play at his very own soccer league: Euro-Latin Soccer.

Although JP has to suffer through the terrible disease we know as cancer, he still makes an effort to help others. The first time he was battling his leukemia, he was enrolled in a research study to help advance studies for pediatric oncology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Now that it is his second time around with leukemia, he is doing the same at UI Health. Even with the disease, JP puts himself out there to help others in hope that no one else, especially children, will ever have to suffer what he and his family has and is continuously going through.

Every dollar helps and we are all grateful for any donations made. Not only are you helping JP through his fight, but his family and friends during this time of need. Like JP always says, “It’s okay, this is just round two. I beat it once, and I will beat it again!” Together, we give JP all the support and love he needs to beat his “round two”.

Después de años de remisión, la leucemia de JP ha regresado; Una suceso extremadamente raro en el campo médico. Lurie de Chicago. Ahora que es su segunda vez con leucemia, está haciendo lo mismo en UI Health. Incluso con la enfermedad, JP se ofrece a ayudar a otros con la esperanza de que nadie más, especialmente los niños, tenga que sufrir lo que él y su familia tienen y está atravesando continuamente.
