We need affordable senior housing!
Fund the start up of Sage Generation!
Sage Generation is a new non-profit formed to create innovative, affordable senior housing and resources in Chaffee County - housing that any one of us would feel proud to call home. Invest in the Sage and Wise of our community!!!
What we are
Salida is an amazing community yet we are falling short in serving our senior population who need affordable, local housing options where they can thrive.
We believe the focus of senior resources and housing should be toward “thriving” – focused on individual choice and autonomy, and quality of life over cost savings and efficiency.
We want to tap into what’s amazing about our community and deliver innovative solutions, such as:
- Creating dialoge and conversations for people to talk about and document their wishes for end-of-life care
- Developing a shared housing program
- Creating a locally run, neighborhood based and affordable senior living campus
What your donation will do:
- Allow us to move from volunteer to paid director
- Get board insurance
- Create a logo and website
- Apply for funds to develop our housing programs
- Make it all happen!
History
The Chaffee County Health Coalition, created in 2013, is a cross agency collaborative working to identify overlap and duplication of services, and work to improve access to health and wellness in Chaffee County. In Spring 2015 a task group of this coalition was formed to focus efforts on addressing the growing need for resources for seniors. In just nine months that group has impacted a number of need areas including expanding meal service, and bringing in a neighbor-to-senior volunteer program that partners vetted volunteers with seniors to give rides, shovel snow, provide social interaction and help with minor home repairs.
This group also gave rise to Sage Generation, a new non-profit with a focus on developing affordable senior housing and assisted living options here in Salida. We are currently seeking start-up funds for SageGeneration to pursue living options that allow seniors to thrive.
