The center will be located in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, but I am offering funding rewards that can be received by those who live anywhere.
The Beginnings
My name is Gay Wolff, and since I was a child, I have asked questions most people couldn’t answer, which has led me on a meandering journey for healing, insight, and sacred connection. It has been my calling to learn as much as I could, through teachings and experiences, and to share that wisdom with others.
For decades I have shared by teaching classes, providing shamanic energy therapy and other body/mind/soul services, and by leading community circles and workshops through both volunteer work and my small business (Sage Foundations). I have also published articles and a book, Tending the Soul with Healing Ritual with a desire to keep sharing the techniques and bits of wisdom I’ve gleaned from my own journey.
Yet, what I have always dreamed of doing is to open a healing arts center that would provide a home-base for growth and holistic wellness, where people can come experience a wide range of services, workshops, and community circles that they can trust to be of the highest quality. This is the dream I strive to fulfill now.
My husband and I have recently semi-retired and moved back to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida to be near family--and here, at the place of my roots, is where I hope to finally fulfill my dream to actually open a healing arts center. This area is just beginning to awaken to the many forms of alternative and holistic therapy, so there is both a need and an opportunity for bringing new awareness and services to the area.

Why Now?
Most of my adult life I have lived two career paths: My primary career was as a college English and mythology instructor, from which I have recently semi-retired. My secondary career was in alternative wellness including subtle energy therapies, personal development workshops, self-development techniques, and healing ritual. I have dedicated my life to learning: I have become certified in a number of modalities, hold a Ph.D. in Mythology with emphasis in Depth Psychology (study of myth, archetypes, and psyche), and I have studied with a wide range of teachers including Peruvian jungle, coastal, and mountain Shamans.
Thus far, I have been using my training and talents on a small scale, but now, as I’m retiring my first career, I am at a stage in life when I can follow my bliss. I have the time and energy to create a center where I can share my knowledge, experience, and gifts in profound and truly productive ways. Now that I have reduced my academic teaching, I can throw my full energy and passion into fulfilling this dream.
Why Here?
I live in Northwest Florida, which has been a primarily rural area dotted with small towns and sleepy seasonal coastal communities. In the last twenty years, the area has blossomed and grown into a thriving year-round community. In the last decade, acupuncture, yoga studios, and med spas have blossomed, as well, and we even have a small variety of alternative energy therapies being offered here and there. Yet holistic therapies are still just a budding concept here, and I believe the area is ripe for more: for someone to create a hub for a variety of quality services, and to sponsor events and become a positive force within the community.
Sage Place will offer some popular services, such as massage and group meditation, but it will also offer other reputable energy and holistic healing methods, such as reiki and my own services in Shamanic Energy Therapy. There will be workshops, reiki shares, and meditation and support circles to support the community. Furthermore, its location will allow for special beach related events, including walking meditations and yoga on the beach for tourists, as well as our participation in area festivals and promotional events.
How You Can Help
Any new business takes time to earn a profit, but in the healing arts field, it takes additional time to educate and earn the trust of the clientele. I could start very small and grow clientele over time (years), which is the model I have used in the past. However, my experience was that starting small has kept my reach small. I’m ready to tap and share my full potential.
Here, I have found the perfect facility for exactly what I need for a center: neither too small nor too large, close to a central retail location but not at the costly center of it, and easy to access even by foot, bikes, and the popular street legal golf carts. It is a stand-alone cottage style office that has space for three massage/therapy rooms, a medium sized class room, a staff workroom/kitchen area, and sizeable reception & waiting area, where we could offer tea and display books and other products. The property is unique, and I do not want to lose this chance to get a large enough space, in a perfect location, for a very reasonable rate (compared to the market), so I’m taking a leap of faith and asking for your help. I need some immediate funding to know it is safe for me to enter into the lease, but then further funding can trickle in over the upcoming weeks and few months. If you choose to help, be assured I will keep you updated.

About Santa Rosa Beach:
This is a less developed beach community with emerald waters and sugar white beaches that have been voted some of the best in the world. We are in a county that has been very slow to develop and had the foresight to impose development restrictions early on. Even though it is now developing at a fast rate, between the many acres of preserve land and the county four story height limit, it will never become as urban as the small cities of Destin or Panama City Beach which flank our east and west borders. The area is still a small community that swells during the summer with tourists, though many of those consider SRB to be their second home town. This allows for a strong connection to a steady group of repeat clients, both on and off season.
About Shamanic Therapy: While most of you are probably familiar with reiki, you may be wondering what shamanic therapy entails. Shamanism in general is a process of gaining intuitive insight and subtle energy abilities through rigorous personal, mystical, and energetic work. One works with a teacher and learns insights and techniques, while also discovering their own personal gifts and talents that will drive their own practice. Therefore, no two shamans (healers) do their work exactly the same: it is based in teachings yet manifests through personal style and talents.
Energy therapy is any therapy that works at the level of subtle energy, including light, sound, and touch therapies. My shamanic therapy uses indigenous Peruvian techniques for engaging, clearing, and shifting energy. I use flower waters, sounds, stones, and guided visualizations to identify and engage heavy energy that needs clearing and to re-illuminate the energy field. When I do distance work, there is more emphasis on words, imagery, and visualization but the process is essentially the same.
This work is spiritual and depends on the client and practitioner’s belief in the subtle energy realm and its power. However, this is not a religious practice, and is compatible with any religious or spiritual philosophy.
