Marlena's Hospital Stay & Expenses
Donation protected
Our beautiful baby girl Marlena Monroe was born on September 21, 2015. To all who meet her, Marlena is a happy girl who is always flashing her inviting smile. Because of her cheery demeanor, most people do not know that she is struggling, on the daily, with an uncommon eating disorder that is affecting her suck and swallow abilities as well as her appetite.
This disorder is interrupting her ability to consume enough calories each day to meet her growth expectations. Marlena was admitted as an in-patient to Cambridge Memorial Hospital 10 days ago, our second hospital stay, and since coming we’ve been pursuing all forms of investigation into our daughter’s feeding difficulties. After several tests, x-rays, ultrasound and an unsuccessful NG tube insertion (which was removed due to breathing difficulties and vomiting all food it administered) – a solution has yet to be found for our baby girl.
Marlena’s pediatricians are pushing every day to get Marlena a transfer of care as an in-patient to Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital. She is also on an outpatient waiting list to get into Sick Kids’ “Failure to Thrive” Clinic. We are hopeful that once we are at Sick Kids a long-term, sustainable feeding solution can be found.
We have started this GoFundMe account to ask for financial help to cover my loss of wages while I take weeks off work to emotionally & physically be with and support my two girls, in addition to the food, gas and parking costs we’re facing while so far from home.
Thank-you for any assistance, no matter how small, you can provide our little family in this very trying time in our lives.
