On Friday January 12th Ryan’s world was flipped upside down. After a gunshot wound he was flight for life’d to St. Mary’s Hospital. After extensive surgery he was taken to the ICU. After a second surgery he remains in the ICU. He has a long road ahead of him. Please continue to pray. If anyone can chip in to help him out with the huge medical expenses so that he will have one less thing to worry about when he wakes up and begins the road to getting home.

UPDATE 03/23/18 - Day 70: They are moving Dad to the Kindred Hospital (Denver) next week. It is a long term acute care facility. He is still too weak to have the surgery he needs so transferring him to this facility will provide him with more physical therapy and support to gain strength and do the healing he needs. The plan is to reassess things mid May and possibly do the surgery he needs back at the university hospital. After some hard times emotionally he seems to be back in good spirits. I can’t imagine going this long not being able to eat, drink or get out of bed amongst so many other things that we all take for granted everyday. I broke down at the hospital tonight so grateful that my dad is the fighter that he is. There were so many times we almost lost him. He still has such a long way to go. Again I would like to thank everyone for all of the support along the way. A special thanks to those of you that have been sending cards, please continue to do so.

After 57 days in the ICU Dad has finally graduated out!!! The doctors are focusing on getting his nutrition up (through his feeding tube) and his strength up (with physical therapy.) They are hoping to take him to surgery to repair the hole in his duodenum in about a month. GREAT NEWS!!

So we are coming up on the one month mark. Dad is still in the ICU. He has good days and bad days. Complications continue to pop up so we are just taking them as they come. He is receiving amazing care at St. Mary’s. I would like to again thank everyone for the continued support. We are looking forward to the day he “graduates” out of the ICU so we can bring his grand babies to see him. And because of the horrible flu going around we are still declining visitors. Dad still has lots of healing to do!
