Ryan James was diagnosed with multiple, severe heart conditions when I was 26 weeks into my pregnancy. I'll never forget how a normal pregnancy ultrasound could result into so many tears and unanswered questions and fears. The moment our Cardiologist diagnosed him I knew I needed to know EVERYTHING. I eventually became an encyclopedia for my son. To put it in simple terms, Ryan's heart was like none they have seen before. His heart pointed the opposite direction as it normally should, his bottom atrial valves were criss-crossed, he suffered from pulmonary artresia and lack of blood flow to his lungs. The first time I heard all of that, I never knew if I could understand what that meant! The doctors in fact, did not exactly know what to do with his 'inspiring, unique heart.' Ryan has accumulated over $900,000 in medical bills and hospital stays. That figure is only noted from his first cardiac surgery. He is currently hospitalized for his second open heart surgery, trying to recover. His heart surgery (Glenn Surgery) went great but he is now having respiratory issues. Ryan and I anticipated a two week stay here at Children's Mercy but that has quickly changed to a seven week stay, if not more. Due to Ryan's health conditions and level of care he needs, as a Mom- I could not leave his side. I decided just recently to change my full-time Jon status, at a beloved company that I worked for for three years, to a PRN position. My heart is here with Ryan and his recovery. It's not easy being a single Mom to such a wonderful, dramatic, handsome little boy. I have appreciated ALL the support Ryan and I have gotten to this day and only ask that that continues through his journey. We wish for prayers and thoughts during this roller coaster. We appreciate if you can give any financial help towards his medical bills and unforeseeable living situations. I appreciate each and every one of you and continue to have EVERYONE in my thoughts. Ryan James Creel sure is a fighter and I cant wait til he understands the support he has behind him one day.
