Tina's Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected
My baby sister Tina, who is 51 years young, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 metastasized breast cancer which has spread to her liver.  Tina is a single Mom with a 22 year old son.  She's one of the warmest and giving people I know.

She's lived her entire life either in or close to Auburn Hills, Michigan.  She has a strong family support system here and lifelong friends that she's know since kindergarten.

She will have plenty of people to help her through this unfathomably difficult ordeal.  But, honestly, money could become an issue.  The medical treatments for this type of cancer will be very expensive.

If you can help by donating a few dollars, we will use that money to pay her medical bills.  We'll aslo need to buy tons of fresh, nutritious organic vegetables and fruits to help her heal, and to buy wigs and scarves when the chemotherapy makes her lose her hair.  Tina has already started researching health improvement and nutrition strategies that will compliment her medical treatments.

Tina has always been the first person to step up and volunteer to do something for other people.  Now its our turn to do something for her in return.

She spent over 100 hours helping our niece, who is married and has 5 children, make massive renovations to their home that they could not have handled on their own.  She recruited me to help, and even paid for some of the renovations out of her own pocket.

She dedicated part of her career to working for the American Red Cross Blood Drive program.  She also recruited volunteers to work for the Red Cross, including our Mom, who has volunteered at dozens of blood drives.

She and several of her good friends did a half marathon in October 2014.
--  Imagine that.  Just a few months ago she was healthy enough to jog/walk more than 13 miles.
--  Today she has to take pain medications because of the painful swelling in her liver.

She loves Christmas.  This year she put up at least three Christmas trees.  She has been a member of two ornament exchanges for many years.  Several women agree to make a couple dozen homemade Christmas ornaments.  Then they have a big party and exchange the ornaments with each other.

One year she bought supplies and built school supply back packs for underprivileged inner city kids.

A few years ago she convinced a group of women at her work to shave their heads in solidarity with a female coworker who was being treated for cancer.  (Now its her turn to get support from others.)

Her oncologist estimates that her treatment plan will take at least a year.  Today she is having a treatment designed to stop her body from producing estrogen – because it feeds the cancer.  Then she'll need a lumpectomy to remove a breast tumor, followed by three kinds of chemotherapy, and then radiation.

Hopefully, she won't have to quit her job, but if she has to it would be wonderful for her to have enough money to cover living expenses.

I cannot imagine losing my baby sister.  Our family and friends will be there for her 24/7 to provide anything she needs.

If you can help with a little financial support that will be one less thing Tina has to stress out about.
