Help Build a Bike Park in Richmond

Donation protected
Dirt World is a bicycle skills park currently under development in Richmond, California.

This 2.1-acre city park will feature an array of tracks, jumps, and wooden obstacles for BMX and mountain bike riders of all skill levels. One area will be geared specifically for very young riders, including children on Strider-type push bikes.

Straight up, Richmond is a tough place. We've got poverty -- about 20 percent of the residents live below the U.S. poverty line, according to official statistics, and that is probably an under count -- and many other problems.

But we also have a lot of heart  -- and a desire to improve our community.

While affluent towns across North America have built bike parks in recent years, Dirt World will be one of the first constructed in a blue-collar urban area. The vast majority of our city's residents are people of color.

Our aim is to transform Richmond into a healthier, more vibrant place by introducing young people to a fun and challenging outdoor activity.

Call us dreamers, but we think that with a little encouragement the next BMX Olympian or slope style icon or dirt jump kingpin or World Cup cross country racer could very well hail from Richmond.

We’ve got the land. We’ve got the support of the city. Now we need your help to raise $60,000 to cover the construction costs. Every penny will be going into final design and building.

We urgently need your financial support so we can meet our timeline and get the park constructed by summer!

Please support us!
