Ruth's First Trip Abroad

My student Ruth Robinson has been selected to participate on the New York City team in the International Moot Court Competition at the Hauge, Netherlands in January of 2018. This is an amazing educational travel opportunity which will allow her exposure to new experiences and both personal and professional connections. Unfortunately, the costs of her travel documents, professional attire, and spending money, are too great for her family to be able to provide.
This will be Ruth's firs time traveling outside the United States. She is in need of these funds quickly so she can apply for her passport and receive it in time for the flight booking in early November.
Ruth has invested an amazing amount of time to nurture her love of learning and love of law. I have had the pleasure of being both her teacher and her advisor as a member of the Law Club consisting of the Moot Court and Mock Trial teams at The Brooklyn Latin Shool. Ruth was first selected for our school's Moot Court team as a sophomore. She achieved this impressive position during her first year of participation due to her hard-work, dedication, and confidence. Her efforts helped our team to rank among the top five teams in New York City in both 2015 and 2016. On account of Ruth’s passion for Law Club and her natural leadership abilities, she was additionally an integral member of our Mock Trial team for the past two years. Ruth competed a prosecution attorney on Brooklyn Latin’s team the New York City Mock Trial Tournament, helping the team to rank among the top 16 teams in New York City during the last two seasons. Ruth has continued to grow in her passion for the law and her superior analytic and speaking skills through her participation in the Sonia and Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program during the Summer of 2017.
Ruth has successfully balanced academics with extracurriculars, as the Law Club requires students to complete independent practices and to collaborate with team members. I have observed Ruth flourish in this environment, and her contributions to the Law Club are extremely valuable. Ruth has spent countless hours working with her fellow Law Club members in order to equip herself and others with the content, skills, and work ethic necessary to pursue further study in law related careers. She has not only excelled in her contributions to Law Club, but has also participated in the Drama Club earning accolades at the New York City Dionysia Theatre Contest.
I am confident that the New York City International Moot Court Team will be very beneficial to Ruth and will provide her with a unique opportunity to continue to develop as a compassionate and innovative member of society. I believe that the exposure to students from around the city and the opportunity for international travel will have an immense effect on Ruth’s character development. Please assist her in this pursuit by making a donation.
