Pat's Half-Marathon for Connor

Donation protected
As you may know, in the aftermath of Connor’s death in 2010, three of his friends and a faculty advisor, conceived of and instituted the Connor Donohue Music Fellowship at Ridgewood High School.  Con’s Fellowship has 4 active high school student Fellows and 6 very active alumni. Admitted as Freshmen and, like being a friend of Connor’s, they’re in for life.  The Fellows meet monthly with a paid Advisor , (The current Advisor is a NJ public school music teacher and was in the original group of Connor Fellows). The Fellows participate in musical enrichment experiences like Master Classes, perform volunteer service (often involving music performance), receive financial support of private music lessons and, maybe most importantly, form lasting strong and mutually supportive friendships – the perfect way to honor the Conman.

How you can help Connor’s Fellowship.

To support Connor’s Fellowship, I’m running (my first) half-marathon on October 7 and asking for your help to continue this great program. In 2009, during his last year, Connor, his sister Caroline, and I ran the Spring Lake Five Mile Race.  Well, okay, Connor patiently ran with me for the first 4 miles and then, with a smile and a nod between us, he opened up his throttle and took off.  I sent him off with a loudly yelled, “Run Connor Run!”  I’ve run the Spring Lake Five every year since (and bellow out “Run Connor Run” on the exact same spot I did in 2009).  Over these last 8+ years, every time I run, especially while training these last months for this half-marathon, I know the Conman is running with me.

We rely solely on donations from friends like you.  Thank you so much for your support and encouragement to Connor’s Fellows!

A Bit About Connor.

Connor made and kept countless friends and enjoyed family, sports, fun and frisbee.  He was also pursuing a career of service. He worked as Dean of Students at "Prep for Prep," a respected non-profit organization committed to improving educational opportunities for talented but under-served youth. Connor had recently started a new job as Program Officer for Strategy at "SingleStop USA" an innovative non-profit organization assisting thousands around the country emerge from poverty. In 2009, Connor was selected as a Fellow by the NYU Wagner School for Public Services for a Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Public Services (FELPS).

While at Connecticut College, where Connor graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in music and English, he conceived and was the founder of "New London Music Tutoring" a tutoring program for underprivileged students in many local Schools. Annual Awards are given in Connor’s honor at Prep for Prep, The Connecticut College Music Department, and at a local high school.
