"Run Your Bunns Off"

Donation protected
In August of 2018, I lost my dad, James Paul Bunnell II,  to a rare type of lymphoma cancer. He was diagnosed in April of 2018 and he never came home during the entirety of his treatment. He spent the last four months of his life on Lunder 9 at Massachusetts General Hospital. During the last week of his stay there I noticed that I wanted to give back to the hospital. Not only did they take care of my dad but they took care of my family. I am extremely grateful for everything they did for us.

I talked to one of his nurses and asked if there was any kind of fund I could donate money to. She told me about the Caring For A Cure Fund. This fund allows the nurses to give the patients on Lunder 9 and 10 anything that they think they may need. For example, if a patient is starting rehab and they don't have sneakers, they will buy them a new pair of sneakers. Another example is, a nice dinner for a patient if its their birthday or anniversary. Many of these patients that stay on this floor have been there for a long time. The medical bills are very expensive and many patients can't afford many things due to this cost. Luckily, my family was fortunate to have enough money to buy my dad the things that he needed to stay comfortable but not everyone is as fortunate as my family.

I decided that for my senior project at Marblehead High School I would start a race in honor of my father. The name of the race is Run Your Bunns Off. My dad was in the military for 24 years and his nickname in the Navy was Bunns. I thought it would be appropriate to put his nickname somewhere in the race name. I chose to do a race because my dad always enjoyed to come to my running races when I did cross country. He would wake up bright and early, and always was my loudest cheerleader on the sidelines. Now, its my turn to cheer for him.  All the proceeds from this race will go to the Caring For A Cure Fund.

As you can imagine, this is a big aspiration for me to accomplish. I didn't notice how expensive it would be until I started planning the race. I want to make tee shirts for the volunteers and runners, a time company, supply water and fruit, etc. Of course, to have all of these I need to have the money to pay for them.

I am asking for donations to be able to make my dad and my family's dream come true. I want to make this race happen but I need your help. Every penny counts. The more funding we receive, the more is donated to the cancer patients at Massachusetts General Hospital. Let's work together to make Run Your Bunns Off a success!
