Scroll down for English*** Als kind kon je mij altijd vinden op het hockeyveld of het voetbalveld. Een tijd waarin mijn enige zorg was dat ik met mijn vriendjes kon buitenspelen of dat we de wedstrijd zouden winnen. Dat zijn ook de enige zorgen die je hoort te hebben als kind. Door de jaren heen wordt je er door je omgeving toch meer bewust van wat een ontzettende impact kanker heeft. Uit het niks kan de grond onder je voeten wegzakken en verandert een zorgeloos bestaan in een langdurige nachtmerrie. Het minst wat ik kan doen is geld inzamelen door een marathon te lopen en een fractie van het doorzettingsvermogen te tonen van wat de mensen doen die deze nare ziekte krijgen. Al helemaal de kleine kinderen. Ik vind dat elk kind recht heeft op een zorgeloos bestaan en een toekomst. Namens het goede doel KIKA ren ik daarom in een team de marathon van New York op zondag 3 november. Om dit mogelijk te maken heb ik tenminste €3500 aan sponsorgeld nodig. Met dit sponsorgeld wordt onderzoek gesteund voor deze zieke kinderen en ik ren daarvoor 42km!! Een mooi plan dus! A time when my only concern involved playing outside with friends or if we would win the game or not. These are the only concerns that you should have as a child. Over the years, your environment makes you aware of what an impact cancer has. Everything can suddenly change and a carefree existence turns into a long-lasting nightmare. The least I can do is raise money by running a marathon and showing a fraction of the perseverance of what the people doing who get this awful disease. Especially for small children with a whole life in front of them.  I believe that every child has the right to a carefree life and a future. Therefore on behalf of the charity KIKA, I run the New York marathon on Sunday, November 3rd. To succeed, I need at least €3500 sponsor money!! However, tumors detected in children are not of the same nature as those of adults and therefore cannot be treated in the same way.   There are more than 60 types of pediatric cancers (leukemia, low-grade glioma, neuroblastoma, brainstem infiltrating cancer, etc.) which means that for every type of cancer, there are few children involved. The market for medicines is really small and does not interest industrialists.
