Ruby Woo Pilgrimage - Cara Meredith

Here's the deal: the more I learn and the more life I live, the more I realize how much I don't know. I enter into the stories of people of color, of immigrants and of those who've been pushed to society's margins, and I wonder how I can help. I wonder how I can be an ally. I wonder how I might pass the mic to those I've silenced for far too long. And I also realized that I've been given both a platform to stand on and an opportunity to learn so I might teach others, and it lights a fire within me.

So, imagine if I joined a diverse group of 40 leading evangelical women speakers, writers and leaders, together embarking on a three-day pilgrimage through the intersectional story of women's struggles for equality in the U.S.

It just might happen.

Join me in discovering the origins of the early meeting in Seneca Falls to immigrant struggles in New York City. Come along with me as I learn what it means to be an ally in Philadelphia, and as I travel to the land where Harriet Tubman dreamed of freedom and in Maryland to the office of the suffragists who won the 19th Amendment. Finally, see what happens on that last day of the pilgrimage, when we come together on Capital Hill to press congressional representatives to fix the Voting Rights Act, fix broken immigration systems, protect women and families, as well as protect women who are fleeing domestic violence.

This is the #RubyWooPilgrimage - Ruby Woo a metaphor or symbol of the God-ordained power many evangelical women have been trained to hide.

And now that I've been invited to go on this trip, my heart pounds thinking about how this might be the next part of my story. But I can't do it without your financial support. So, would you join me in this life-changing story?

Your financial support will not only help me fly to the East Coast so I can attend the pilgrimage, but it'll help another three women attend the experience, too. Specifically, funds will be used for flights to/from location; hotel, food and bus transportation; and additional costs associated with making #RubyWoo actually happen.

Deadline for giving is Friday, October 20th - thanks for your consideration in giving, both to me and to three other women attendees!

Also, just a quick note: my name is Cara Meredith, and I'm from Seattle, Washington. I'm a friend and associate of Lisa Sharon Harper, organizer of the pilgrimage through the non-profit, FreedomRoad.us.

Want to know how the funds will be used?

*$1245 will go to FreedomRoad.us to fund the cost of my pilgrimage.

*$500 will go back to me as reimbursement for airplane travel to/from and transporation to/from the airport.

*Any additional funds raised will go to FreedomRoad.us to help more women go on the trip.

I will withdrawl funds directly from Go Fund Me, collect money for airplane travel and transportation, then send all additional funds directly to FreedomRoad.us.
