Ruby's NICU Fight

Ruby Avis Jones was born early at 28-weeks after my daughter, Alexis Jones  was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome; a severe form of pre-eclampsia. On Tuesday January 1st, Alexis was admitted to Mountain Point Hospital where she was later transferred to Timpanogos Hospital and learned that she would be delivering Ruby early by an emergency C-section. This was the only option to cure Alexis and avoid further complications, and to also give baby Ruby the best chance at survival. Ruby was born on January 3rd at 5:39pm weighing only 1lb 13oz, and reaching 12.75 inches long. Over the next few days both Alexis and Ruby were monitored closely as they recovered. Ruby is expected to be in the NICU until March 25th, 2019. The nurses at Timpanogos Hospital describe Ruby as “feisty” and a “fighter”, and they are proud of how well she is doing so far.

Our hope is to help raise funds to provide support for the hospital expenses that the Jones Family will incur. At this point it is unknown how much the extended NICU stay will cost the Jones Family, but any help is appreciated. If the funds received exceed the needs of the Jones Family, those additional funds will be used to provided NICU support packages to families in need.

While in the hospital, the Jones family received a lot of love and support through words and gifts; they are very thankful for this. We are unsure of the road ahead for Ruby and family, and nurses say that there will be ups and downs, but we are hopeful that Ruby will stay strong and fight so that she can finally join her family at home and meet her big sister Norah.
