Dear family, friends and extended internet family,
The time has come to send Cory of to college! He's wworke so hard for this, and no one deserves the opportunity to achieve his dreams more than this hard working young man. Thank you for reading Cory's story and contributing any way you can!
Cory has been a model student throughout primary and high school. Maintaining straight A's and accolades over the past 12 years. He graduated with high honors from AAEC Early College High School; having maintained dual enrollment in high school and Paradise Valley Community College. His high school and college GPAs were 4.0, respectively, and his weighted GPA at graduation was 4.31. He scored in the 97th percentile on his SATs nationally and received the Congressional Award for Academic Merit. He also found time to volunteer at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control as a kennel attendant and adoptions counselor. Additionally, Cory was the first ( and youngest) design intern at E-line media in Tempe, Arizona.
Cory's dream is to become a video game designer and follow his passion for creative imaginative and engaging experiences in that medium. He has been accepted and enrolled in the Bachelor's of Arts program and Digipen Institute of Technology in Redmond, WA. One of the top programs in the country, it is a private college and sadly, not cheap.
The tuition at Digipen is about $32,000 per year. He is blessed to be able to live with his grandma in Washington (thanks grandma Deb!) and we've managed to save $10,000 towards Cory's college tuition. He has also been awarded a total $28,000 merit scholarship from Digipen and a $3,000 ESA (Entertainment Software Association) merit scholarship. Unfortunately, we don't qualify for any other financial assistance except student loans.
That's where all of you come in. This GoFundMe will remain open for the entire course of Cory's college studies. I will continue to update it adding any scholarships he is aware along the way as well as any other offline contributions. Anytime you are able please donate, share and promote so that together we can make Cory's dreams come true. No amount is to small, and no gesture goes unappreciated.
