Roosevelt School of the Arts is an magnet program specializing in Visual and Performing arts. Our students have the opportunity to study a wide variety of arts classes including Folklorico Dance, Visual Arts (Art I, Art II, Ceramics, and 3-D), Theatre Movement, Orchestra, Mariachi, Piano, Drama (Intro to Theatre, Theatre 1, Acting Basics, Acting Styles, Showcase Directing, Improv), Wind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Percussion, Marching and Concert Band, Latin Jazz, Guitar, Exploring Fashion, Costume Design and Theatrical Make Up, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop I, Hip Hop II, Hmong Dance, Ballet, Video Production, Videography, Stagecraft I, Stagecraft II, and Set, Light, Sound Design, and Choir (Chamber Choir, Advanced Women's Choir, Performing Arts Singers).
We are raising money for various needs including scholarships (given out at the end of the school year), materials such as lumber, paint, fabric, clay, props, dance shoes, instruments (recently we've had a need for some new guitars and piano keyboards), and costumes (for dance classes, the play and musical we do every year, and our choirs).
Our needs are ongoing. We have the need to supplement the regular budget. Our expensens often go over the amount we get based on the large amounts of performances we do throughout the year, both here at the school, and at many other venues, as well.
We believe that our students benefit from the ability to share their work in the community. With so many performances and shows during the school year, your donation will enhance our students' experiences and provide for them the chance to shine!
