Roy is the husband of our dearest friend Betty Griffin. On June 29th 2017 Roy was diagnosed with bowel cancer and surgery was performed the same day.
On July 03, 2017, Roy’s bowel perforated, and they rushes him into surgery where they performed a colostomy. At the end of July Roy started chemotherapy and after the 3rd treatment they had to stop the chemo because he couldn’t tolertate it.
Due to problems from the colostomy in January 2018 they operated and did a reversal because his body was rejecting it.
In July, 2018 Roy was again dealing with yet another severe health issue and had to be sent to Halifax to have a polyp removed from his esophagus that was causing chocking episodesso he could swallow properly. After a week the incision burst open and he had to go to surgery again, which so far has been successful.
Unfortunately after many months of enjoying life as best as one can, on March 20, 2019, Roy was once again diagnosed with yet another cancer after having a Ct Scan in which they discovered a large tumor behind the Ureter, that was pressing on the nerves The cancer is malignant and now spreading from his past cancer and the Dr.s said it is now inoperable. He is now on a rigorous Chemo treatment which may be followed with radiation to shrink the tumor and try to prolong life a little longer. The Chemo is very hard on Roy and makes him sick, so they aren’t even sure if he can continue that treatment. Besides these measures Roy also has to take a strong amount of pain meds in which all these meds are so expensive.
We are all praying for a major miracle for Roy, but in the meantime, this Go Fund Me, is to help with all these EXTRA expanses this family in encoring.
