Hi everyone my name is Roxy! I am an adorable high energy 1 1/2 year old boxer mix and I have never met a human I didn't like (as long as they give me belly rubs). My amazing mom rescued me when I was abandoned by my owner as a puppy and has given me the best life I could imagine!
I love going to the dog park it's my favorite I run up to people and show them my belly and they pet me! Unfortunately I went to the dog park in February and was having a lot of fun with this dog and all of a sudden I started limping :( so my mom took me to the vet right away and they took some X-rays and found out I have a partially torn cruciate ligament in my knee?? Whatever that is. They had my mom put me on bed rest for a couple weeks which meant no dog park sad :( after some of the longest weeks of my life without any play I went back to the vet and they found out I had a luxated patella in that same knee, which means I have a smooth knee joint, and that's how I tore my ligament in the first place. Sadly bed rest didn't make me better so we went to another vet that said I need surgery!!!
What my mom didn't know that the vet told us was that this surgery is very important if I want to run again and be an active dog (which I do I love going on runs with my mom). This vet that my mom took me to would be 5000 dollars to fix my knee that's a lot even if my mom had an adult job!! My mom found a vet in Denver that goes by Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain vet and we have an appointment next week to help make my knee better!
I'm still able to walk but if I walk for too long I start limping and it's sad so I cant walk for more than 5 minutes before my knee starts to get inflamed. And with this surgery I'll be able to play with my brother Django again like we used to! I could also go swimming at the dog park (WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO DO). I can also go hiking again which I haven't done for the longest time I miss it! Also it makes my mom sad to talk about my torn ligament and luxated patella along with my hip dysplasia, I sound like a senior dog, but I'm not even 2 years old yet I have so much left to do!!!
