Rowen's Glassblowing Apprenticeship

Hello, my name is Rowen Colling.  I am a senior at Arcadia Charter School in Northfield, Minnesota.

Seniors at our school all do a big senior project.  For mine, I want to learn glassblowing art.  Luckily, in a nearby city a master glassblower has a studio.  His name is Gail Dahlberg, from the Anderson Center.  He was featured in a PBS documentary!  Watch the video here:

I chose this art because I like working with my hands and manipulating materials. I've done blacksmithing and seen documentaries and it looks mesmerizing. I like how difficult and unpredictable it is.

Mr. Dahlberg has very generously given me a reduced tuition price, but it is still out of my price range.  Tuition for a 12-week course of study and materials is $600.

In the future, I hope to open a small business selling art and functional pieces made from glass and metal.
