So many friends and family members have wanted to help Sean and Coopie get through this tough time, but aren't too sure how they can help.

With their permission I have set up this page for those who would like to donate and help relieve the financial pressure so they can spend this precious time supporting Rosie in the hospital.

One year old Rosie got sick in early April.  She had an emergency event on April 9th and had to be put on a ventilator and transported from Houlton to the Bangor PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).  The team of doctors got to work!  A chest x-ray showed something unusual and required a CT scan to further investigate.  She had a diaphragmatic hernia and her stomach had slipped up through pressing on her left lung.  They performed emergency surgery and corrected that issue (while removing her appendix at the same time).  It was unknown if it was related to her breathing issue or not.  She has a stomach tube that will be in place for a few months.

She was on a ventilator for 10 days receiving lots of medications to keep her sedated and treat her breathing.  She had another emergency event when she experienced Simultaneous Bilateral Pneumothorax (a pin hole in each lung) early in the morning.  The doctor on call rushed in to insert chest tubes to mitigate the situation.

She was able to get off the ventilator after a few attempts and they removed the chest tubes, but she was still having high temps and not feeling well.  They found her central line (IV) had a fungal infection.  They took that out and treated her for the infection.

They recently transferred her out of the PICU, but she still has periodic fevers and breathing issues.  A blood culture shows she has an infection somewhere in her body.  As of 4/30/19 they are doing a number of scans and tests to try to find and treat the infection.  She’s also tapering of the pain and sedation drugs.

Rosie is a very tough, strong willed baby and luckily has loving parents by her side to comfort her.

My sister, Kristinn (aka Coopie), is a stay at home Mom to Rosie and her brother Louie (2.5 y/o) and Sean works as an independent contractor.  They live in Smyrna, Maine, but have been staying in Rosie’s hospital room with her until she’s able to go home.  Louie has been staying with grandparents.

Rosie will likely be in the hospital for a while longer so any donation to help their family would be greatly appreciated!

We’ll keep you posted!
Thank you,
