Rose Suggs Medical Bills

Donation protected
Our daughter-in-law Rose Ailene Bullard Suggs was an energetic, loving, free-spirited young woman who instantly brightened a room with her presence and brightened the lives of those around her daily. Married just two years to our son, Brandon Suggs, they had recently contracted to purchase their first home and were finalizing the paperwork. Rose had just started a new position with Belks as a merchandising manager and was so excited and happy in her job.  Brandon had just been promoted to a new warehouse position with Food Lion and was schedule to start after Thanksgiving. Their future together was bright and promising.   On the evening of November 10, 2018, Rose, who had struggled with asthma and allergies issues most of her life, had an asthma attack so severe that she suffered several instances of cardiac arrest during her transport to Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital, and while in the emergency room. After resuscitating her for the fifth time, she was medevaced to the WakeMed cardiac trauma center. Over the course of several days doctors fought to stablize her and assess the extent of trauma that might have occurred to her body. Unfortunately, it was determined that her brain had suffered extensive damage during those first crucial hours as she fought for her life on the emergency room table. Our son, Brandon, stayed by her bedside for five days as he watched her health deteriorate. Finally, after extensive testing determined that she had lost almost 100% of her brain function, he decided, along with full support of her family, that it was in her best interest to spare her from any further suffering and remove her from life support. Knowing his wife's loving, giving spirit, Brandon opted to donate her organs so that others may go on to live full lives with their loved ones.   Rose was a beautiful person, with a beautiful spirit and personality. She has touched countless lives in so many beautiful ways, and she will always be remembered in that way. She was the light of my son's life, the passion in his heart and the anchor of his soul.   While grieving for the unexpected loss of a loved one is inevitable, so is the atronomical medical cost that follows. We will be pursuing every possible option available (insurance policies, Medicaid, WakeMed financial assistance, etc.) to cover the expenses in the coming months and years, but welcome any assistance anyone could generously offer to help offset the staggering financial debt. -Byron Suggs
