Rosalinde F Howell Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
My sister Rosalinde Franchette Howell passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017, from complications with scleroderma, pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and interstitial lung disease (ILD).  She was 49 years old.

My sister lived with us because her diseases ravaged her heart, lung, esophagus, and stomach, as well as damaged the feeling in her fingers and affected her joints.  In spite of the damage to her body, her mind, spirit and quick wit were as sharp as ever.

An activist in her youth and a lover of books, movies, children, the arts and the law, she did all she could to research this disease, especially its effects on people of color. Because she knew this info was rare, she created a blog, Victory with Scleroderma, designed to not only provide people of color with info, but also to provide a forum for encouragement and support.   Because of the feedback from persons from around the world (South Africa, England, etc.) expressing their joy for even having a forum, my sister had plans to create a simple nonprofit with 5% of the funds going to the members and the other 90% going to research for how her combination of diseases affects people of color.

Because the disease caused her to be disabled and because of its effects on her body, she had no life insurance.  Her expenses beyond what her resources would cover are about $6,000.  Whatever is not covered, we will pick up and reach out to family for some additional help.

Our hope is to bury her January 28, 2017 in Union, NJ.  All this depends on her cremation which takes 7 - 10 business days by law in Illinois before we can even fly with her to NJ and have a memorial service.

Here is a site for folks to give if they wish and what they can.  Any proceeds after we cover all the remaining costs of her funeral will be donated to the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension society (PAH) in her name.

Thank you for your support and God bless.
