Rory's Heartworm Treatment

Hello everybody!
We are raising $1,800 to help pay for our sweet Rory's heartworm treatment.
Anyone who knows me, knows that my dog is my best friend. Rory came to Deanna and me this past January from a kill shelter in Arkansas. We were her third placement, and it was no easy feat to make this sweet girl feel at home – as she had spent the majority of her life alone in a shelter. As a skittish rescue, she refused to come inside from a snow storm. I remember thinking that night that I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into. Deanna and I sat outside with turkey and dog food and waited for hours for Rory to come to us, let us show her love, and bring her back inside. Just as we didn't give up that night, we will NOT give up now!
She tested negative at her first vet visit in January after her adoption and was given a preventative heartworm injection. Unfortunately, she had contracted heartworms sometime just before she found our way into our hearts and home, resulting in a false negative on the test. We thought our dog was healthy and safe, and now that we know she is sick we will do EVERYTHING in our power to make sure our dog gets to live out her happy, healthy life with her furever family.
The treatment process to eliminate the heartworms is not only expensive, but long and tedious. Rory will be confined to a crate for more than two months, to keep her calm and safe while injections kill the harmful parasites in her heart. Though it will be painful to watch, and hard to keep our 2 year old puppy confined, we're committed to making sure we complete this process thoroughly and correctly. We promise to sit by that crate every day and we promise to make sure Rory feels loved throughout this process. And as soon as this process is over, we promise upload a video of her running crazy and free!
