Lung Cancer, Really?
A nagging cough and a full plate for this winter with wonderfull clients for the ski season. What does one do? They go see their doctor so the cough can be addressed accordingly and not miss any days on the hill. During the conversation the doctor asks some probing questions and then says" Rory this is not good, we need some chest xrays now!" 24 hours later we are scheduling additional CT scans and meetings with doctors at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
What we know today, lung cancer. What type to be determined. Medastatic tumors in both the right and left lungs. Right lung has a large tumor and small tumor. Both to be removed on March 15th 2017. The left lung tumor, we figure out the protocol once we know the type of cancer. Lymph nodes around the heart are infected and will be removed during the Thoracotomy on the right lung.
Scary yes. What is most troubling, financial fear and insecurity. Loss of income and increasing expenses. A new home with construction unfinished, an inabilty to do the work because of the medical challenge and recovery process. Never mind the income drain.....
A spouse who is there without fail and whose business will suffer while attending my needs. The perfect storm!
Sure I am not the first and certainly not the last. I am here as suggested by a dear friend who said there are many who love you and will want to help in someway. There are many whose hearts and souls you have touched through your passion for skiing and willingness to share that passion with so many.
So I am ready to let science and God go to work and hope that the financial challenges can be lessened by the generosity of others.
