Roma's Road to Recovery

Roma went to work on Saturday, August 5th, 2017 at 5:00 PM, but around 7:30 PM she called Andrew that she had the worst headache ever and was really sick. A customer was in the store that was EMT trained. The customer helped Andrew determine to call for an ambulance to Capital Region Hospital. They did a CAT scan and determined she had a bleed and sent her via ambulance to University Hospital.
Once at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri Roma had was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm on Sunday, August 6th, and had brain surgery that day where they clamped the aneurysm off to stop the bleeding. The day after the surgery she was done a CAT scan and angiogram were done to access the success of the surgery. The aneurysm was successfully clamped and as of now, they are optimistic. The next hurdle to over come is to get her extubated and breathing on her own.
The recovery for this surgery is a long one and she will be in the ICU for about two weeks following that an additional week in the hospital and possible transitional care/inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation. Inpatient expenses were less than expected, and we are still figuring out what our needs are with Roma home. Including some home care not covered by insurance, someone being with her has been necessary for my dad to get back to work and some home modifications ect, but we have lowered our goal due to some generous donations not recorded on the GoFundMe.
