Paradise Fire Pet Rescue

Donation protected
11/25/2018 - UPDATE:   I initially started this campaign the first week of the Camp fire in Paradise, CA. At the time I had no idea what we were all in for. The number of home lost was comparatively low at the time and the need for my skills seemed to be minimal. This week, while in Paradise, everything changed. The size and scale of this operation is purely overwhelming. I am currently seeking a used trailer to reside in on the weekends while I do my work in Butte county.  I plan on commuting from Sonoma to Butte county for the next year. The need for what I do will be present until all the fire pets are found. I have a feeling this won't be the last of these events. I dread to think what the next fire will bring. I will never stop what I do because there will always be a need for these kinds of services. There aren't too many specialized "Cat Trappers" out there. I feel I could raise my goal to a million dollars and it still won't cover the needs. There are misplaced cats everywhere and it truly means the world to the owners and myself to get them back. People LOVE their animals. They are family. We grow and mature, simply by caring for them. They open our hearts and they sooth our sorrows. I could never put a price on the life of my animals. My efforts will be long term and continue on once we are done in Paradise. My ideal dream is to have a fully equipped rescue vehicle set up and ready to go at the answer of a phone call. This is a long term goal that may not take place until a year or two down the road. I don't want to make this campaign "Camp fire" specific but rather "Fire Pet Rescue". There will always be a need for what we do. I never intend to stop. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My name is Dave and I love cats. I started working with a rescue group several years ago trapping feral cats in my area. We trap, spay/neuter, vaccinate and release into a safe environment. Cats  and kittens that qualify are fostered and adopted out to good homes. Last year my community suffered devastating fires and I became involved in rescuing lost pets. Through the efforts of our community hundreds of cats have been reunited after being lost. I myself spent 100s of hours in the burned zones of Santa Rosa, CA rescuing lost cats. Now that we are suffering more fires I would like to reach out to my neighbors and help with the rescue efforts in Paradise, CA. I will be traveling 3 hours each way, every weekend to do what I can to help return lost pets to their owners.   At this time I am seeking funds to help find and return lost pets. I will be purchasing traps and cameras, Animal handling equipment, Microchip scanner, Safety supplies and other necessary items. I will post updates as these items are purchased. All funds raised through this campaign will go directly into finding and returning lost animals. Thank you all for your continued support. None of this could happen without it.
